Philip Sargente

My name is Philip Sargente and it is with great pride that I announce the opening of MiVillage, a community of people dedicated to improving the lives of the next generation! With over 15 years of experience in working with children and their families I have been able to create an organization that provides ground-breaking methods in developing our children’s mental growth and physical health.
I can personally attest to the vast number of benefits that martial arts can have on a person. I grew up with a single mother and sister in a cozy 2-bedroom apartment. My mother was and has always been one of the hardest working people I know. As much as my mother was determined to provide my sister and I with a better life, she recognized it simply could not happen alone. She knew it was going to “take a village,” and for that, I am forever grateful. At the age of 9, after having moved schools and towns nearly every two years, I walked into Next Generation Martial Arts and met Shihan Woods. Little did I know at the time the vast impact this one choice would have on my life. Less than a year into my training, struggling to afford the tuition, I was put on a working scholarship. I helped clean, teach and whatever else was needed of me from that time forward. Fast-forward almost 20 years and here I am. I have a clear understanding that had I not been under the influence of the community of martial artists that I was surrounded by, I would not be where I am today. For that reason, I have dedicated my life to providing others with the same opportunities and lessons that I was fortunate enough to have been given.
I am passionate about sharing the lessons I have learned to create a better and brighter future for our children.
